AJ’s Big Mac Classic

The AJ's Big Mack Classic Fishing Tournament will be held September 17-19 in Destin, Florida. The tournament will feature all King Mackerel. There will be cash prizes for three of the largest fish, two aggregate awards for one fish, and a Big Mac overall winner. Each division will offer cash prizes to the largest fish. There are three divisions. All fish must weigh in to be eligible for cash awards.

This year, the event will attract more than 35,000 anglers. And, the prizes are even better than last year. Extra divisions and changes in the rules have made the tournament better than ever. The King Mackerel Award category will award $100 to any captain who captures the largest king mackerel one-day. This pot increases throughout the tournament. At the end of each tournament, the angler that caught the biggest king mackerel on a single day will receive 25% of the prize cash. All the rest will go to local charities.

Fishing For Miracles

Fishing enthusiasts are eager for the King Mackerel Tournament to be held in Charleston, South Carolina again, after more than a quarter century. Two charities will benefit from this year's event: Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina (PICU) and MUSC Children's Hospital's PICU. This charity has donated over 600,000.0 dollars to worthy beneficiaries. Other charitable events will be held at the tournament.

Swansboro Rotary Club King Mackerel Blue Water Tournament is now one of the most important fundraising events. In its first years, the tournament was worth less than $10,000. It had less 100 participants. In 1988, however, the prize purse had surpassed the $100,000 mark and Lee Moore was the master of ceremonies. The tournament attracted more fishing enthusiasts and was also on the Southern Kingfish Association’s first circuit.

The Carolina Kingfish Classic 3rd Annual at Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina is an all-day fishing festival featuring live entertainment, auctions and southern hospitality. Motor boats are only allowed to enter the tournament. King mackerel are not permitted. A beach party will be held with live music and an after-party featuring live auctions. The Carolina Kingfish Classic will benefit Windwood Farm Home for Children.

Participants may participate in the tournament by launching their boats at a port of their choice and fishing any of three days. Brien Bethards, his crew and deep-fishing on Friday.
