How To

How do you clean your fishing gear?

It is important to rinse the item well after washing it. There's a possibility of bacteria growth if the item is not rinsed well. Untreated, this can cause bad smells and worse infections. To prevent this, dry the items completely before storing. You should also avoid touching the item's surfaces when cleaning. Touching something that is dirty can spread germs.

Apart from using soap, water, there are many ways you can improve the quality and performance of your fishing gear. Special detergents and solvents may be necessary depending on what type of gear you have. Some things should not be used, though, as they may cause damage to your goods. Bleach is one example. Bleach is known for dissolving plastic and metal so you should not use it to clean your fishing gear. Use warm water and a dishwashing liquid instead. Only use dishwashing detergents designed to clean fish. Dishwashing fluids contain chemicals and enzymes that break down organic materials, such as blood, slime and scales. They also contain surfactants which remove dirt from surfaces. A stain remover is recommended if you have concerns about stain removal. Stains are usually caused by oils and fats that remain on the surface of the gear. Stain removers can be applied directly to the spot where the oil or fat is present. This will remove the stain without causing damage to the underlying material.
